Tour an abandoned Garnet Mine  …

The hardest garnet in the world is only found on Gore Mountain, making the garnet extremely rare. The Barton garnet has an unusual and beautiful ruby red color that flashes in the sun.  The mine is located on Barton Mine Road off Route 28.   There is a unique gift shop and an interactive children's wet wheel.

Say hello to 13th Lake … Sitting on edge of the Siamese Ponds Wilderness Area, nearby Thirteenth Lake is a completely unspoiled Adirondack lake. Thirteenth Lake is a wild and beautiful clear wilderness lake with no evidence of human activity.  With no power boats permitted on the lake, this is a gorgeous spot to relax, swim, kayak or canoe.  Swim into the middle of the lake, lay on your back and contemplate the majesty of the mountains above you as you listen to the sounds of nature and the call of the loons.

Revolution Rail

Railbiking with Revolution Rail Co. is a fun excursion activity that allows riders to ride the railroad tracks under their own power and explore a section of the Adirondacks that has never seen passenger traffic.
